The course provides structured theoretical and practical instruction in General Ship Knowledge (GSK) and Marine Engineering Knowledge (MEK), allowing successful candidates to join merchant ships as Ratings in either the Deck or Engine departments.
The training incorporates a highly disciplined academic curriculum integrated with extensive practical workshops, firefighting grids, water survival training at our campus pool, and mock vessel environments. All instructional elements satisfy strict international standards to ensure our cadets qualify for top-tier merchant navy assignments.
Approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Ministry of Shipping, Government of India. Approval No: TR/A/25/2003. The academy is subject to rigorous periodic inspections by the Directorate General of Shipping and classification societies to ensure the highest standards of safety, simulation, and workshop instructions.

Fee covers Tuition, Accommodation, Food, Workshop practices, Uniforms, and Library access. Books and exit exam fees are extra. Admissions follow strict regulatory standards and fees must be deposited via banking channels.
In line with international maritime initiatives to promote female participation in commercial seafaring, the academy provides a HIMT/PKIMSE is offering a ₹25,000 Discount in Course Fees for all Female Candidates.

Trainee GP Rating

Officer / Engineer
Clear Certificate of Competency (CoC) exams to rise to Officer Ranks (requires 36 months sea-service for rating to officer stream).

Hands-on ropework, knotting, rigging, canvas sewing, and mechanical advantage rigging.
