The Basic STCW Safety Training (BST) course is an essential 11-day program mandatory for all seafarers seeking an Indian Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC). The course covers four basic safety modular programs: Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (FPFF), Elementary First Aid (EFA), Personal Safety and Social Responsibility (PSSR), and Personal Survival Techniques (PST), ensuring readiness for onboard emergencies.

The academy is subject to rigorous periodic inspections by the Directorate General of Shipping and classification societies to ensure the highest standards of safety, simulation, and workshop instructions.

Eligibility Standards

Please review the eligibility criteria carefully. Candidates must meet all academic, physical, and medical standards at the time of commencement to qualify for admission.

Academic

Minimum 10th standard pass from a recognized board.
INDoS (Indian National Database of Seafarers) number is strictly mandatory.
Must complete DGS e-learning modules & pass initial online tests prior to physical classes.

Age Limits

Minimum Age: 17.5 Years at course commencement.
No upper age limit, provided candidate is medically fit.

Medical & Eyesight

Must clear medical fitness conducted by a DGS-approved medical practitioner.
Must have good physical stamina (for heavy physical drills like fire fighting and wet water survival drills).

Step 3: Academic Review

Complete DGS e-learning modules & assessments for PST, FPFF, EFA, and PSSR.

Step 4: Final Selection

Attend the 11-day physical practical and theory training classes at the academy.

Step 5: Final Selection

Pass the exit examination at the institute.

Withdrawal & Refund Policy

Withdrawal requests must be formally filed. Refund structures are governed by timelines prior to course commencement:
